Bio

Born in 1962 in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Iraq. He is Director of Kurdology Center after spending many years as the Head of the Art department as an expert on Visual Arts.

He graduated from the Institute of Art in Sulaymaniyah in 1985, earned his MA in Drawing from Camberwell College of Arts in London, UK (2007) and his Ph.D. from Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts London, UK (2013) with an unprecedented Ph.D. project about Documenting the Kurdish Genocide (Anfal 1988) through drawing and recording the testimonies of 15 Anfal survivors as well as investigating the Kurds’ collective memory of the genocide.

 Dr. Osman has participated, as a member of panel and guest speaker, in many international conferences and seminars on Anfal, Genocide and Crimes against humanity. He has also exhibited his works over the years in the Middle East and Europe, including a three months exhibition of his works entitled “The Displaced” in summer of 2008, at London Imperial War Museum.

The ‘2+2=KRDSTN’ exhibition in Lausanne, Switzerland. Lasted from 28 April to 19 May 2023     

The exhibition, where the works of Kurdistan and European artists are exhibited, shed light on the destruction caused by the 100th-year Treaty of Lausanne in terms of rights and the history of resistance of the Kurdish people.

 Exhibition of “Kurdistan images of the existence”, 20 December 2022 at the Museum Okregowe, Bydgoszcz – POLAND continued until March 31 2023.

September 2019 – 9-2021 Traces and masks of the Escape ′′ at the Lower Austria State Gallery, Dauoodat Landesgalerie Museum.

Dec 22, 2019 — Drawing project ”Documenting Darkness” Curator: Daro, at Esta Gallery, Sulaymaniyah. This show was continued until July 2020.
